Essential Queries on This Form

What is the ITD 3702 form?

Who should use the ITD 3702 form?

This form is intended for individuals who are the registered owners of a vehicle or vessel and wish to change their mailing address or dispute ownership. If you want to ensure that no title transfer occurs for your vehicle during a dispute, this form is a crucial tool.

How does the Title Stop work?

When a Title Stop is placed, it prevents the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) from issuing a new title for the specified vehicle or vessel for one year. This gives the owner time to resolve any issues, such as ownership disputes or address changes.

What is the fee for submitting the ITD 3702 form?

There is a fee of $21.00 associated with the submission of the ITD 3702 form. This fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the title stop request.

How long does the Title Stop remain active?

The Title Stop remains active for one year from the date the request is submitted. If you need to cancel the Title Stop before the year is up, you must notify Vehicle Services in writing.

What should I include when filling out the form?

When completing the ITD 3702 form, be sure to include:

  • Your vehicle or vessel's identification number
  • The year, make, and model of the vehicle
  • Your legal name and contact information
  • The reason for the Title Stop

What happens if there is an ownership dispute?

If a title application for the vehicle is submitted while a Title Stop is active, the ITD will notify you by mail. You will then have 30 calendar days to secure a court order to stop the title transfer. If no court order is received, the title will be issued as originally applied for.

Can I change my address using the ITD 3702 form?

Yes, you can use the ITD 3702 form to change your mailing address. If you provide written authorization, the ITD can mail the title to a different address or to another individual or business as specified.

Is there a specific format for the written authorization?

What should I do if I want to cancel the Title Stop?

If you decide to cancel the Title Stop before the one-year period ends, you must send a written notification to Vehicle Services. Be aware that the $21.00 fee will not be refunded.

Misconceptions

Misconceptions about the ITD 3702 form can lead to confusion regarding its purpose and procedures. Below are some common misunderstandings:

  • 1. A Title Stop prevents all title transfers. A Title Stop only prevents the issuance of a new title. It does not stop all transfers or transactions related to the vehicle.
  • 2. The form can be submitted without a reason. The ITD 3702 form requires a specific reason for the Title Stop, such as a change of address or an ownership dispute.
  • 3. The Title Stop lasts indefinitely. The Title Stop remains active for one year from the date of the request. After that, it must be renewed if needed.
  • 4. The fee is refundable. The $21.00 fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the Title Stop request.
  • 5. A Title Stop can be requested by anyone. Only the owner listed on the title application can request a Title Stop. Unauthorized requests will not be processed.
  • 6. The ITD will not notify the requestor about title applications. If a title application is submitted, the ITD will notify the requestor by first-class mail, allowing them to take further action.
  • 7. A court order is not necessary for ownership disputes. If a dispute arises, the requestor must secure a court order within 30 days of notification to stop the title transfer.
  • 8. The ITD will automatically cancel the Title Stop after one year. The Title Stop does not cancel automatically. A written notification is required if the requestor wishes to cancel it before the one-year period ends.
